Kriyā Yoga

Rooted in the ancient yogic traditions of India, Kriyā Yoga is a profound practice aimed at awakening the dormant energy within each of us. Its origins trace back to sacred Hindu scriptures like the Upanishads, where it is described as a journey to enlightenment, or sat-chit-ananda, being, consciousness, and bliss.

Kriyā Yoga integrates elements of Bhakti Yoga (devotion and chanting), Raja Yoga (meditation), and Shakti Yoga (the dynamic power of energy). Often called the “Yoga of Awareness”, it uses specific practices, including kriyās (action), mantras (sound), mudras (hand gestures), and dhyāna (meditation), to stimulate and harmonize the entire body, mind, and soul.

At the heart of Kriyā Yoga is the interplay between Shiva, representing pure consciousness, and Shakti, the dynamic energy that fuels transformation. Through this practice, the kundalini energy of Shakti rises through the chakra system (energy centers located along the spine) to reunite with Shiva, leading to a profound state of balance and self-realization.

This interplay of energies is deeply connected to the chakra system, making Kriyā Yoga a powerful tool for chakra balancing and unlocking the true potential of the self, as well as the connection to the Divine.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Chakra Balancing Kriyā Yoga

What sets my Kriyā Yoga practice apart is its focus on the chakra system and its use of color to create meaningful, transformative experiences. Each chakra resonates with specific colors, frequencies, and qualities, and by working with these energies, I guide practitioners toward achieving their desired outcomes, be it emotional clarity, spiritual growth, or physical vitality.

In this practice, we use tailored kriyas, meditations, and visualizations to activate and balance the chakras. For example, if the goal is to enhance creativity and emotional flow, we focus on the sacral chakra, linked to the color orange.

By aligning the chakras, you’ll feel more connected, empowered, and aligned with your highest self.

Sound and the Power of Sanskrit Mantras

An essential aspect of Chakra Balancing Kriyā Yoga is the use of Sanskrit mantras, the ancient vibrational sounds that activate energy points in the mouth and resonate throughout the body. Sanskrit is known as the “language of the gods,” and its sounds are designed to stimulate specific chakras through precise tongue movements and vibrations, unlocking physical and energetic flow. Each mantra corresponds to a chakra, aligning its frequency and amplifying its transformative power.

Throughout my teachings, the power of sound is integrated via the chanting of mantras, including the Sanskrit seed syllables of each chakra, to create a deeply immersive and healing experience. These vibrations guide participants in realigning their energy systems, enhancing the practice's physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits.

Kriyā Yoga to Open the Heart Through Breath, Awareness & Bhakti

The heart chakra, or Anahata, is the central energy center in the chakra system, symbolizing love, compassion, and connection. As the bridge between the lower and upper chakras, it plays a crucial role in uniting physical and spiritual energies.

This class focuses primarily on the Heart Center (Anahata Chakra), traditionally associated with the color green: a symbol of compassion, harmony, healing, and unconditional love. We explore the meeting point between Kriya Yoga and Bhakti Yoga: two complementary paths that gently guide us inward.

Through gentle kriya-inspired movements, pranayama, mudra, visualization, and meditation, we cultivate the qualities that Bhakti Yoga naturally nourishes over time: openness, gratitude, service, and loving awareness. Bhakti Yoga reminds us that the deepest transformation arises through love, devotion, humility, and relationship with the Divine.

Although these paths are often presented separately, they beautifully support one another. 

The breath becomes steady, the mind becomes quieter. The heart softens through gratitude and devotion; our perception naturally becomes clearer. 

Together, these practices prepare us beyond just meditation to a more conscious way of living. By awakening the heart’s expansive energy, you’ll foster deeper connections with yourself and others, opening the path to unconditional love and fulfillment.
